E27 (ES) LED GLS Bulb 8.5W 806lm Non-Dimmable - Cool White 4000K

This is a general lighting service bulb, the familiar rounded household shape, with an E27 screw cap and an LED module inside. It draws 8.5W and returns 806 lumens, which the pack gives as a 60W replacement, so the light output sits where most people expect a main room bulb to sit. The colour temperature is 4000K, a cool white that reads neutral rather than yellow. The beam angle is 180 degrees, so light leaves the whole dome rather than being thrown forward in a narrow cone.

Cool white at 4000K suits rooms where you are doing something rather than relaxing: kitchen ceilings, utility rooms, garages, workshops, home offices and stairwells all read cleaner under it, and whites stay white instead of turning cream. In a living room it can feel brisk beside 2700K warm white, so it is worth keeping one temperature per room. The E27 cap is the larger of the two common screw caps in the UK; if the old bulb screwed in on a thread roughly 27mm across, this is the right one. Will this fit my existing light fitting?

It takes an E27 screw cap, the larger Edison screw used on most UK pendants, table lamps and floor lamps. Check the old bulb has a threaded metal cap about 27mm across rather than two bayonet pins.

Can I use it on a dimmer switch?

No. The specification gives this bulb as non-dimmable, so it should run from an ordinary on/off switch. On a dimmer circuit a non-dimmable LED can flicker, buzz or fail early, so choose a dimmable lamp instead.

How does 4000K cool white actually look?

It is a neutral, slightly crisp white with no yellow cast, closer to daylight than to a traditional filament bulb. Kitchens, garages and work areas read cleaner under it, while 2700K or 3000K feels softer for lounges.

Is 806 lumens enough to replace a 60W old-style bulb?

Yes. The pack gives it as a 60W replacement, and 806 lumens is the output people are used to from a standard 60W incandescent, using 8.5W to get there.

How long should it last?

The pack prints a 10,000 hour life and states up to ten years, which assumes a few hours of use each day. Frequent switching and enclosed, hot positions will shorten the life of any LED lamp.

What does the 180 degree beam angle mean in practice?

Light spreads across the whole front half of the bulb rather than being focused into a spot, so it fills shades, pendants and ceiling fittings evenly instead of throwing a single bright pool.
