Jayeda Recycled Glass Flush Ceiling Light - Clear

The Jayeda flush light is a ball of clear recycled glass, 24cm across, packed with fine air bubbles through the whole wall of the glass. It hangs from a short fluted brass stem between two round brass discs, the upper one fixing to the ceiling, so the ball sits close under it rather than on a chain. The whole fitting measures 32cm from the ceiling to the bottom of the glass. The bulb sits inside the ball and shows through the bubbles.

Clear glass all round means the light leaves in every direction, the ceiling included, so the fitting lights a room evenly rather than picking out a surface. With only 32cm between the ceiling and the bottom of the ball it goes where a hanging pendant would be in the way, on a landing, in a hallway, or in a room with a low ceiling. It takes one E27 bulb up to 15W, it is dimmable, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The glass is recycled, blown by hand into a round mould, and the bubbles form while it is being blown rather than being put there, so no two balls carry the same pattern. The plates and the stem are brass. The Jayeda range also holds a pendant version of the same bubbled ball on an antique brass chain. Bulbs are not included.

Instruction Manual (PDF)

How far does it hang below the ceiling?

32cm in total, from the ceiling plate to the bottom of the glass. There is no chain and no flex to adjust.

What is the maximum bulb wattage?

15W, which is low for an E27 fitting. Check the figure before buying a bulb.

Are the bubbles the same on every one?

No. They form while the glass is being blown, so the pattern and the density differ from ball to ball.

How do I clean it?

Switch it off and let the bulb cool, then wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth in a circular motion. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off it.
