Jayeda Recycled Glass Ball Pendant Light - Clear

The Jayeda is a glass ball, 30.5cm across, blown clear and carrying thousands of fine air bubbles through the wall of the glass. A flat brass disc caps the top of the ball and a brass lampholder hangs a short way inside it. Above the disc a ring takes an antique brass chain, with a rust coloured fabric flex running down beside it. The whole fitting measures 36.5cm from the top of the ring to the bottom of the ball.

Clear glass hides nothing, so the bubbles are what is seen. Lit, each one takes a spark of the light and the ball reads as a mass of small points rather than as a smooth surface. The light leaves in every direction, which lights a room rather than a surface, and suits a hallway, a stairwell, or a group of them over a kitchen island. It takes one E27 bulb up to 15W, it is dimmable, the flex runs 1.5m, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The glass is recycled, blown by hand into a round mould, and the bubbles form during the blowing rather than being put there, so no two balls carry the same pattern. The collar, ring and chain are brass in an antique finish. The Jayeda range also holds a flush ceiling fitting in the same clear bubbled glass. Bulbs are not included.

Instruction Manual (PDF)

What is the maximum bulb wattage?

15W, which is low for an E27 fitting. Check the figure before buying a bulb.

Are the bubbles the same on every one?

No. They form while the glass is being blown, so the pattern and the density differ from ball to ball.

How big is the ball itself?

30.5cm across. The 36.5cm is the whole fitting, from the top of the brass ring to the bottom of the glass.

How do I clean it?

Switch it off and let the bulb cool, then wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth in a circular motion. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off it.
