Description

The Jara is an iron plant stand built as an A frame, 65cm tall, 40cm wide and 45cm front to back with the legs open. Three wire rails cross the front frame, and each rail carries three small terracotta pots held in their own ring, so nine pots sit on it in three rows of three. The pots are plain terracotta with a rolled rim, and each has a hole in the base. The iron is left dark and bare.

It stands on the floor on an open A frame. The front frame leans back, so each row sits a little further forward than the one above it and every pot gets light from the front instead of sitting in shadow. Nine small pots is a herb row, a shelf of succulents or a run of cuttings, and it stands against a wall. It is suitable for outdoor use.

The frame is iron and the pots are terracotta, with a hole in the base of every pot so water runs through rather than standing in it. The terracotta is bare and the surface is textured rather than smooth, so the tone varies from pot to pot. The stand wants putting away or bringing inside over the winter months.
