Description

Janna is a pendant light in two parts: a wide, shallow cone of grey iron with a slim lip at its edge, and beneath it a glass diffuser with a soft swirled pattern. Iron does not let light through, so the cone acts as a hood and sends the light down and out through the glass, which wraps around the bulb from below. The whole light is 30.5cm across and 19cm tall, and the shade alone is 12cm tall, so it reads as broad and low. It weighs 1.45KG.

Its 30.5cm width suits hanging over a table, on its own above a small one or as a pair above a longer one, and the low profile keeps it from crowding the space overhead. It works as well in a hallway, on a landing, above a bedside table or in the corner of a room beside an armchair for reading. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only: living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and studies. The grey is quiet and neutral, so it sits easily with warm plaster walls and pale wood, and suits anyone after a pendant with shape but no fuss.

The shade is iron and the diffuser is glass, with a small grey fitting at the top where the cable enters. It takes an E14 bulb at a maximum of 40W, or 5W for an LED or 9W for a CFL, and no bulb is included, so you will need your own. A 250cm black cable runs up to a round ceiling rose in the same grey. The maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download. A warm white LED bulb suits the swirled glass, and hanging it so the glass sits just above eye level when you are seated lets you see the brim and the glass rather than the inside of the shade.
