Description

This is a pleated bamboo fan made for the wall rather than the hand, opening out into a broad arc 75cm long and 70cm tall. The pleats are green across their outer reaches, and the colour fades as it runs inwards, so the centre shows the bamboo's own natural tone where the folds gather into a small round hub. From that hub hang two long tassels on a looped cord, and a second loop at the top takes the weight on the wall. The bamboo has a fine ribbed texture that catches the light along every fold, which gives the piece more depth than a flat print of the same size.

At this size it fills the space above a sofa, a sideboard or a low shelving unit, where a framed picture might otherwise go, and it works just as well over a bed or at the end of a hallway.
