Description

The Knightsbridge SPIKE4BL is a 4W LED outdoor spotlight with an IP65-rated die-cast aluminium housing, supplied with both a wall bracket and a ground spike for surface or in-ground installation. The integrated COB LED delivers 335lm at 3000K warm white through a 20° beam angle, suited to uplighting architectural features, highlighting specimen plants, or providing directional path lighting.

Designed for exterior use in UK climates, the IP65 rating protects against low-pressure water jets from any direction and prevents dust ingress, making the fitting suitable for exposed garden beds, under eaves, or on rendered walls. The twin-axis bracket allows the head to tilt and rotate once fixed to the wall or spike, directing light where needed without repositioning the mount. The fitting is prewired with a 3m outdoor-rated cable, terminating in bare cores for connection to an external junction box or transformer.

The die-cast aluminium body measures 60mm diameter by 83mm length and is finished in matt black. The clear diffuser over the COB LED allows the full 20° beam to project without diffusion loss, maintaining the spotlight character rather than spreading to a flood. The constant-current driver is integrated into the housing and operates on 230V 50Hz mains. The LED is rated to L70B50 at 15,000 hours, meaning 70% of initial lumens remain after 15,000 hours of use, equivalent to around 10 years at 4 hours nightly operation.

Is the spotlight suitable for use in garden beds and exposed positions?

Yes. The IP65 rating protects against water jets from any direction and prevents dust ingress, making it suitable for ground-level planting beds, under eaves, and on walls exposed to rain. The 3m cable should be connected via an outdoor-rated junction box with IP-rated cable glands.

Can the light direction be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The head tilts and rotates on a twin-axis bracket, allowing the 20° beam to be aimed once the wall bracket or ground spike is fixed in position. The bracket can be loosened with a screwdriver to reposition the beam angle.

What is the beam angle and coverage area?

The 20° beam angle produces a focused spotlight rather than a wide flood. At 2m distance the beam covers approximately a 70cm circle, making it suited to uplighting trees, statues or architectural detail rather than broad area illumination.

How is the fitting installed and wired?

The fitting is supplied with a wall bracket and a ground spike. The wall bracket fixes to masonry with two screws, while the spike pushes into soft ground or lawn. The 3m cable terminates in bare cores which must be connected to 230V mains via an outdoor junction box rated IP65 or higher. Installation must comply with Part P Building Regulations and should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
