Description

A stand for an open book, built entirely from wire and finished in aged brass. Closely spaced horizontal bars fill a heavier frame 27cm wide and 22cm tall, and a raised lip runs the length of the bottom edge. Small ball feet sit at each corner and a leg behind holds the frame at an angle. The finish is dark and uneven over the wire, browner where it has aged most.

A wire panel rather than a solid one keeps the whole stand light at 0.43kg, so it lifts aside while the worktop is in use. Twenty-seven centimetres across takes most recipe books open, and the lip along the bottom is what carries the weight of the pages. It stands on a worktop and holds a book open.

The wire is iron under an aged brass finish, bent to shape for strength, so the spacing of the bars is not identical from one stand to the next. It is not food safe. Inkollu runs as a kitchen range in the same finish: a toast rack, a cutlery holder, a dish rack, a spice rack and a cake stand among them.
