Inha Reactive Glaze Ceramic Vase - Dark Olive & Natural

A two handled ceramic urn, 21cm tall and 24.5cm across the handles, with a rounded belly drawing in to a short collared neck. Two round loops rise from the shoulder and arch out and up to finish level with the rim. The upper two thirds carries an olive glaze, mottled grey green and streaked darker where it ran thicker, which stops in a wavy line about a third of the way up from the base and leaves a band of amber where it pooled. Below that the clay is matt cream, flecked all over with dark iron spots.

The mouth is 13cm across, wide enough for a loose armful of stems rather than one or two, and the inside carries a double layer of glaze, which is what makes it safe to fill with water and fresh flowers. The handles take the widest point out to 24.5cm against a body of 21.5cm, so it needs more shelf than the body alone suggests.

The vase is ceramic and glazed by hand. A reactive glaze moves in the heat of the kiln, so the line where the olive stops, the amber that gathers along it and the depth of the speckling below all come out differently on every vase. It weighs 0.5kg empty.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it regularly with a soft, damp cloth, and wash it in warm soapy water when it needs more than that. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the glaze. It is for indoor use only.
