Description

A set of two mugs, each 7cm tall and 10cm across, glazed cream and painted with rows of indigo drops. The mugs are wide and low rather than upright, the side straight with a slight flare to the rim, and the handle is small and set high on the body. Each drop is one short brushstroke, narrow at the top and fuller at the foot, and the rows cover the upper two thirds of the mug before stopping in a ragged line above the plain cream base. Each holds 370ml.

370ml is a full cup rather than a half one, and at 10cm across against 7cm of height the mug is wide and shallow in the hand. The handle takes one or two fingers rather than a whole fist. Two come in a set. They are foodsafe and dishwasher safe.

The clay is white and the paint is water based. The mugs are shaped and painted by hand in Vietnam, so no two rows of drops fall in quite the same place and the pattern is denser on one mug than on the other. Indigo Drop is also made as a small mug, and the range runs on to plates, bowls, jugs, a teapot, a cup and saucer, egg cups, a butter dish and a twelve-piece set.
