Description

A cream ceramic teapot holding 525ml, hand painted with rows of indigo drops around the body and again around the rim of the lid. The drops are laid in bands, each pointed at one end and set slightly apart from the next, and the spacing is uneven enough to show the brush rather than a transfer. The spout is short and tapering, the handle is a wide open loop, and the lid is flat with a small round knob.

Five hundred and twenty-five millilitres is one to two cups, so this is a pot for one person or two rather than for a table of four. It is dishwasher safe and food safe. A cup and saucer are made carrying the same drops.

The clay is ceramic, shaped and painted by hand in Vietnam. The drops go on individually, so their size and spacing differ around the pot and between one pot and the next. Indigo Drop runs a four-person teapot as well as this one, and a cup and saucer, mugs, jugs and a twelve-piece dinner set.
