Description

The Indali is a round dining table in solid mango wood, 120cm across and 76cm high. The top is a thick slab with a plain square edge, and it sits on three square-section legs that splay outward, joined near the floor by a Y-shaped stretcher. There is no apron under the top. The surface keeps the fine ridges of the saw that cut it, so it reads as textured rather than polished.

At 120cm across it seats three to four. Because the legs splay out and there is no apron, a chair pulls in at any point round the edge rather than only between the legs. There is 73cm from the floor to the underside of the top, which is the figure that matters when chairs go under it.

The wood is mango throughout. Mango is only cut for timber once the trees have stopped bearing fruit, and the short growing cycle gives local farmers a second income from the same land. The grain and the tone shift from board to board, so no two tops look alike. At 45kg the table is heavy.
