Description
The Ibo large cabinet stands 183cm tall and 117cm wide on four short legs, with two full height doors louvred in reclaimed wood from top to bottom. The slats are set with gaps between them, so light and air pass straight through and whatever is inside shows in outline. Two dark metal ring pulls meet at the centre join, the doors swing on long metal straps, and a small peg sits at the top of the join and another at its foot. Inside, three fixed shelves run the full width and divide the cabinet into four open compartments above a planked base.
At 183cm tall and 44cm deep this is a full height cupboard rather than a low unit, and it wants 117cm of clear wall plus room for both doors to swing wide. The four compartments take folded linen, towels or tableware, and because the slats are open the air keeps moving through them, which is what suits it to a linen cupboard as much as to living room or dining room storage. The same gaps leave the contents half visible, so what goes inside is on show in outline whether the doors are open or shut.
The wood is reclaimed and the piece carries the life it had before, in this case as boarding on the outside of an Indian truck. Splits, knots, nail holes and shifts of tone run through the boards, and the back is made up of separate planks that each take the finish differently, so no two cabinets are alike. The tone is the pale natural one of the wood with no stain over it. The Ibo range also runs to a small slatted cabinet, a low one and a tall one, a slatted sideboard, and tables, shelves and consoles in the same reclaimed wood.

Frequently Asked
How many shelves are inside?
Three, fixed and running the full width, dividing the interior into four open compartments above the base.
Are the doors glazed?
No. Both doors are louvred slats with gaps between them, so air moves through and the contents show in outline.
Will every cabinet look the same?
Not exactly. The wood is reclaimed, so the weathering, the splits, the knots and the tone differ from one cabinet to the next and no two are the same.
How heavy is it?
149.2kg, at 183cm tall, 117cm wide and 44cm deep.
How do I look after it?
Wipe it regularly with a soft damp cloth. To wash it, use a mild dish soap by hand and do not leave it to soak. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners away from it, as they can damage the finish. It is for indoor use only.
