Description
This is an artificial hydrangea stem, 100cm tall and 15cm across, with tapering heads of tiny pink florets that give way to small closed buds towards each tip. Long, narrow leaves branch from the stem beneath the flowers, so it reads as a cut garden stem rather than a stiff spray. We like that the buds keep the tips looking unfinished, the way a real flower head opens from the base upward. It is made from 80% polyester, 10% iron and 10% polyethylene, and at 0.09KG it is light enough to move from room to room on a whim.
At 100cm tall it is happiest in a tall vessel standing on the floor, on a sideboard or console table, or in a hallway where it has room to rise. One stem on its own looks considered in a narrow vase on a mantelpiece; several together make a fuller arrangement for a dining table or a chest of drawers in the bedroom. Because an artificial stem needs no water and does not wilt, it suits the places fresh flowers rarely last: a dim landing, a holiday home, or a high shelf that is awkward to reach every few days.
The composition includes iron, and the maker asks that the stem be trimmed and folded into place before use, so you can shorten it to suit your vase and set the leaves and flower heads at the angle you prefer. Handle it gently while you do, as the maker notes the leaves and flower heads can break with rough handling. For a relaxed arrangement, trim a second stem a little shorter than the first so the pink heads sit at different heights and catch the light from more than one side.

Frequently Asked
How tall is the hydrangea stem?
It is 100cm tall and 15cm across, so it suits a tall vase or a floor-standing vessel rather than a small posy jar.
What materials are used in it?
It is 80% polyester, 10% iron and 10% polyethylene, and it weighs 0.09KG, so it is very light to lift and arrange.
Can I cut it shorter?
Yes. The maker asks that the stem be trimmed and folded into place before use, so you can shorten it and shape it to sit well in your vase.
Does it need water?
No. As an artificial stem it needs no water, so it can stand in an empty vase or a dry vessel all year round.
How should I handle it?
Gently. The maker advises handling it with care to avoid breaking the leaves and flower heads, particularly while you fold them into place.
Where does it look best?
Its 100cm height suits a tall vase on the floor, a sideboard or a hallway console, where the tapering pink heads have room to rise.
