Description

This is a stoneware jar made in the shape of a fish, with a lid and a matching spoon, and it holds 1700ml. Raised scales cover its body, a round eye and pouting lips sit at one end, and a ridged tail sweeps up at the other. The lid forms the fish's back, topped with a raised fin, and a notch in its edge lets the spoon stay in the jar with the lid on. The spoon's handle is patterned with scales to match. It measures 35.5cm long, 15cm wide and 15.5cm tall and weighs 1.58KG.

At 1700ml it is a serving dish size rather than a small pot, so it earns its place on the dining table: bring a stew, a curry or a salad to the centre and let everyone help themselves with the spoon. It is food safe and microwave safe, so a portion can be warmed through in it. Between meals it works in the kitchen as a lidded jar for dry goods such as rice, oats or pasta, and its length suits a deep shelf.
