Description

This pair of stoneware ornaments is made to look like tall table candles, though there is nothing on them to light. Each piece is a slim column with sculpted drips running from its top edge, a pointed flame at the tip and a round foot on which it stands. The two match in shape but not in pattern: one foot carries a scatter of dots and the other a ring of small flowers, so they read as a pair without being identical. Each ornament is 18cm tall and 7.5cm across, made entirely of stoneware, with a glossy, multicoloured finish.

Because they are never lit, they can stay out all year, not only on the evenings a real candle would be burning. They sit well at the front of a bookshelf, on a sideboard beside a vase of flowers or along a mantelpiece, and they come into their own in the middle of a birthday or celebration table among wrapped presents. Split them up if you prefer: one on a bedside table and one on a windowsill keeps the dotted and flowered patterns talking across a room.
