Description
Our ceramic house light-up decoration is a tall, narrow townhouse in white, lit from within by an LED so its windows glow warm on a dark evening. A heart is cut through the gable beneath a pitched roof of textured beige tiles, and a chunky chimney rises at one side. The front has four windows, the top pair arched and the lower pair square, each with four panes, over a small door with a round knob in relief, and more windows sit on the sides. The white glaze has a soft sheen and turns warm tan at the window edges. It comes in two sizes, Small and Medium, sharing the same design.
This is a Christmas piece at heart, happiest on a mantelpiece, windowsill, bookshelf or hall table where its glow can be seen as the light fades. Set the Small and the Medium side by side and they read as a little street, the Medium standing a little taller. The white and beige palette sits easily with greenery and fairy lights, in a pared-back Scandi scheme or a more traditional one. It also makes a thoughtful Christmas gift, easy to wrap and lovely to unpack.
Made from ceramic, it is a freestanding piece with a flat, stepped base, so it needs no hook or stand and sits neatly on any level surface. The matt, gently textured roof contrasts with the smoother glazed walls, keeping the detail crisp whether the light is on or off. Dust it with a soft dry cloth, and when the decorations come down, wrap it in tissue and store it somewhere dry for next Christmas. Place it where you sit in the evening and its warm glow becomes part of the room.
