Hazem Wooden Cabinet 122cm - White

This is a tall, shallow cabinet in painted white firwood, fronted by two doors with full-length panels of tempered glass. It is 81cm long, 18cm wide and 122cm tall, and that 18cm is its depth from front to back, so it sits close to the wall and never crowds a room. Inside, three shelves divide the space into four compartments. The interior is left as bare, unpainted firwood, so the grain and the odd knot show through the glass behind whatever you choose to display. The make-up is 80% firwood, 19% tempered glass and 1% iron, and the cabinet weighs 16.47KG.

Glass doors make this a display cabinet as much as a storage one: whatever you keep inside stays on view while the doors keep the dust off. It suits a gathering of ceramics, glassware, vases, books or keepsakes in a kitchen, dining room, living room or hallway, and the shallow depth makes it a good answer for a narrow stretch of wall where a deeper cupboard would get in the way. Hang it on the wall at eye level, or stand it on a sideboard, dresser or console table so the shelves sit within easy reach. It works as well for someone furnishing a first home as for a cottage kitchen that wants a little more character.

The frame and doors are painted white, and the paint is worn back lightly along the edges, which gives the cabinet a lived-in look from the day it arrives. The doors are hinged on their outer edges and meet at the centre, where a pair of handles sits side by side, and a projecting cornice runs along the top to finish the line. For styling, keep each shelf light: a few pieces grouped together with space around them read better through glass than a crowded row, and the bare wood behind sets off ceramics against the white frame.

What is the cabinet made of?

It is 80% firwood, 19% tempered glass and 1% iron. The frame and doors are painted white, and the inside is left as bare firwood.

How big is the cabinet?

It is 81cm long, 18cm wide and 122cm tall. The 18cm is its depth from front to back, so it suits a narrow wall or the top of a sideboard.

How many shelves does it have?

Three shelves divide the inside into four compartments, all behind the two glass-panelled doors that meet at the centre.

Can it hang on a wall or stand on furniture?

It can do either. Hang it on a wall at eye level, or stand it on a sideboard, dresser or console table, and its 18cm depth suits both.

Is the inside painted white as well?

No. Only the frame and doors are painted white; the inside, shelves included, is left as unpainted firwood, so the wood grain shows through the glass.

How heavy is the cabinet?

The cabinet weighs 16.47KG, which makes it a solid piece of furniture built from firwood, tempered glass and a little iron.
