Description

This glass vase has a shape all its own: a flared upper bowl rises from a round, swelling base, with a narrow waist between the two, so the outline reads a little like a small table lamp or a mushroom. White flecks and streaks run through the glass from the foot to the rim, softer and denser on the rounded base and finer towards the top, while the glass between them lets light pass. It is made wholly of glass, stands 18.5cm tall, measures 13cm across and weighs 0.594KG, which gives it a reassuring weight in the hand.

At 18.5cm tall it is a compact vase, sized for a sideboard, a bookshelf, a bedside table or the corner of a desk rather than the middle of a long dining table. The upper bowl widens towards the rim, so it suits a few leafy stems, a single large bloom or a loose bunch of dried grasses that fan outward rather than stand straight. It works just as well empty, because the white pattern and the curved outline hold the eye by themselves.
