Description

This is a pair of stoneware bowls, and the two are not alike. One is painted in vertical stripes and carries a raised flower on its side; the other is scattered with dots and has a flower set at the edge of its rim, standing slightly proud of the bowl. Both are multicoloured and painted by hand, with an embossed finish you can feel under your fingertips. Each bowl is 12cm across and 6.5cm tall and holds 310ml, which makes it a small serving bowl rather than a large soup bowl: think yoghurt and berries at breakfast, or a scoop of ice cream after supper.

With two bowls that do not match, everyone at the table knows which one is theirs, so they suit a couple sharing breakfast or a pair of housemates. They are just as useful when friends visit: fill one with olives and the other with nuts, or set them out with dips and crisps beside a board of bread and cheese.
