Description

A table runner 230cm long and 50cm wide, woven in linen and cotton and blocked in two colours: a long field of undyed oatmeal and a deep rust section set against it, with a narrow band of rust chevrons drawn along the line where the two meet. The ends finish in a knotted fringe rather than a hem. The weave is loose and slightly slubbed, so the surface catches light unevenly along its length.

At 230cm it will run the length of a long dining table and still hang over both ends, and at 50cm wide it leaves room either side for plates rather than covering the whole table top. The two colours mean it reads differently depending on which way round it is laid, with the rust at the head of the table or at the far end. Linen and cotton together drape rather than sit stiff, so it follows the edge of a table instead of standing away from it.

Cotton brings the softness and the wear to the fabric and linen brings the texture and the softer, looser feel, and the two soften further with use. Because the fringe is cut rather than stitched, the ends will shed a few threads early on and then settle. Geet is made in this one colourway.
