Description

The Galilea is a 65cm crystal chandelier built around nine G9 bulb positions arranged across five curved polished chrome arms and a central crystal-filled basket suspended below the canopy. Each arm terminates in a candle-style upright with a cut crystal sconce, while the lower basket holds teardrop crystals that hang freely within a chrome wire frame. The combined effect is nine points of light reflected and refracted through approximately 80-100 individual crystal pieces.

Designed for dining tables in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Galilea works equally well centred over a kitchen island or in a double-height entrance hall where the 650mm diameter and 1600mm maximum drop allow the fitting to occupy vertical space without overwhelming the floor area. The adjustable chain drop ranges from 600mm to 1600mm on installation, giving flexibility to position the chandelier 700-900mm above a dining surface or higher in a hallway. The 7.5kg weight requires a ceiling fixing rated for suspended loads and a suitable ceiling rose.

The polished chrome finish on the arms and frame gives high-reflectance mirror shine that multiplies the light output from the nine G9 bulbs and throws additional sparkle off the crystal elements. The open basket structure at the centre allows light to pass through the teardrop crystals both upward toward the ceiling and downward into the room, creating layered ambient and decorative illumination. Bulbs are sold separately — most installations pair this chandelier with 3-5W warm-white LED G9 bulbs at 2700K-3000K to balance energy use with light output across all nine positions.

Is the Galilea dimmable?

Yes, if you fit dimmable G9 bulbs. The chandelier itself has no dimmer built in — dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs you choose and the wall dimmer or smart dimmer you install. LED G9 bulbs vary in dimmer compatibility, so check the bulb specification before pairing with a dimmer switch.

What bulbs does it take and are they included?

The chandelier takes nine G9 capsule bulbs up to 33W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit 3-5W warm-white LED G9 bulbs at 2700K-3000K, which provide comparable light output to older 25-33W halogen G9s while using far less energy.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 1600mm maximum drop and 650mm diameter suit rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. For dining tables the chandelier typically hangs 700-900mm above the table surface, which works in rooms with 2.7-3.2m ceilings. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the Galilea if the chain is shortened during installation to the 600mm minimum drop.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off the chandelier and allow bulbs to cool. Wipe each crystal piece with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For deeper cleaning, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the chrome frame or letting water run into the bulb sockets. Do not use glass cleaner sprays or chemical polishes on the chrome or crystal.
