This stoneware vase is 31cm tall and 14cm across, painted by hand with broad vertical stripes that alternate between a deep shade of pink and a soft, pale one. Its outline is what sets it apart: the upper half is slightly wider than the lower, so the vase steps in neatly at the middle, like one cylinder stacked on a narrower one. The stripes run straight over that step, which keeps the whole piece reading as a single clean column. It weighs 1.36KG, a solid weight for a vase of this size.

Its height makes it a vase for long stems, leafy branches and single large leaves rather than a short posy, and its 14cm width gathers a handful of stems so they fan out above the rim. It suits a console table in the hallway, a sideboard in the dining room or the end of a bookshelf in the living room.
