Description

This is a stoneware side plate, 21cm across and 2.5cm tall, finished in a cream reactive glaze. Around the rim the glaze breaks into fine radiating streaks that read like the petals of a flower, while the centre settles into a dense speckle and a darker line of glaze traces the very edge. Seen from the side it is a low plate with a gently raised rim, so crumbs and dressing stay where they belong. At 0.58KG it has the satisfying weight of proper stoneware, a dense, hard-fired ceramic that feels solid in the hand.

At 21cm across it is a classic side plate size: right for toast and butter at breakfast, a slice of cake with afternoon tea, bread beside a bowl of soup, or a small salad to start a dinner. It sits comfortably at the edge of a place setting in the kitchen or dining room, and it is just as handy on its own for a quick lunch at the counter.
