Description

This is a beige throw printed all over with a country floral of large rounded blooms, scattered small flowers and fine branching stems with leaves, set against lines of running stitch that run the length of the cloth. It measures 160cm long and 130cm wide and weighs 0.9KG, a generous size for covering a lap or a pair of shoulders. The fabric is a blend, with cotton the largest part at 38%, alongside polyester, viscose, acrylic, a little polyamide and 1% wool. The weave has a softly flecked, textured surface rather than a flat, smooth one.

At this size it sits neatly over the back of a sofa or the arm of a chair, ready to pull over your knees on a cool evening, and it is wide enough to wrap round your shoulders while you read. It also works folded across the foot of a bed, where the print adds warmth to plain bedding, or kept in a basket by the fireplace for guests. The beige ground and printed flowers sit comfortably with natural wood, rattan, linen and stone, so it suits a cottage sitting room, a farmhouse bench or a calm, neutral bedroom equally well.

One side carries the full floral print. The reverse is plain beige crossed by simple stitched stripes, so you can turn it over for a quieter look. Both ends are finished with a knotted tassel fringe. Care is straightforward: it goes in the washing machine at 40 degrees, can be tumble dried on a low heat, and takes a medium iron when you want it crisp rather than relaxed.
