Description
Etaya is an artificial eucalyptus stem in green, standing 94cm tall and spreading 15cm across at its widest. A slender dark brown stem divides into several side branches, each carrying soft green leaves dusted with a sparkling white frost, and little clusters of cream berries blushed with pink sit among the leaves. It is made of plastic, so it holds its shape without water and weighs 0.06KG. As a Christmas decoration, it gives you the look of a freshly cut winter branch that will not wilt.
We think it suits anywhere indoors that would welcome a touch of frosted greenery: a tall vase on a sideboard, a hallway console, a mantelpiece or the centre of a dining table. At 94cm it has the height to rise clear of a tall vase, and on its own in a slim bottle vase it makes a simple, airy line. It also mixes with pine, fern or silvery foliage stems for a fuller winter arrangement, where the pink-tinged berries add a gentle warmth among cooler greens and silvers. The muted palette sits comfortably with traditional red and gold schemes and calmer grey, white and silver ones, so it suits most festive looks. Because it is artificial, there is no water to change and no fallen leaves gathering around the vase.
The frosting covers both the leaves and the berries and has a fine glitter that catches the light, so the stem looks as though it has been brought indoors from a winter morning. Plastic does not wilt in the way fresh foliage does, so the stem keeps its form through the festive weeks and can be packed away for next Christmas. At 0.06KG it is featherlight, so it is easy to move between rooms or reposition within an arrangement. With a spread of 15cm, it needs a little room either side when it sits against a wall or beside other decorations.
