Description

This is a pair of stoneware candle holders, each one a seated cat with a flower opening on its head to hold the candle and a small bird perched at its back. One cat is painted with stripes, the other with dots, and both have handpainted faces with wide, calm eyes, so the pair reads as two characters rather than one shape made twice. Each stands 17cm tall, 9.5cm long and 9cm wide, a modest footprint that sits happily on a narrow shelf or a busy table. Both are 100% stoneware and multicoloured from petal to paw.

Each cat holds a taper or dinner candle in its flower, which makes the pair a natural fit for a dining table, a dresser or a sideboard. Set them at either end of a mantelpiece, side by side at the centre of a table laid for a celebration, or on a bedroom chest of drawers where the two cats can keep each other company.
