Description

A vase built from rolled iron sheet, 31cm tall and 16cm across at its widest, in three stacked parts: a straight cylindrical neck, a rounded belly below it, and a tall cylindrical foot the belly sits on. The joins between them are left showing as seams. The opening measures 8cm across. The finish is aged black, streaked and mottled where the metal has been worked and lifting to a warm brown along the shoulders.

A glass insert comes with it, so the vase takes water and holds cut stems rather than only dried ones. The opening is 8cm across, which is a handful of stems held loosely, and at 31cm tall the vase carries them without the arrangement pulling it forward. It suits a shelf, a sideboard or a low table. It holds dried grasses or cut stems.

The iron is reclaimed. Sheets are cut, shaped and joined by hand to build the body, and the aged finish goes on last, so no two vases come out with the same patina. The Endo vase is also made in a larger size, 40cm tall with a 10cm opening.
