Description

This small stoneware vase has a face. Its upper part is shaped as a head, with gently closed eyes, a long straight nose and a quiet smile, and it narrows at the neck before widening into a rounded body. The lower half carries an embossed geometric pattern of crosses, rings, dots and short bars, set in rows you can feel under your fingertips. It stands 14.5cm tall and 6cm across and weighs 0.234KG, a compact size made for a few stems rather than a full bouquet. The pink glaze settles differently over the raised pattern, so the motifs read slightly paler than the smooth areas around them.

At this size it suits the spots where a larger vase would crowd things: a bookshelf, a mantelpiece, a windowsill, a bedside table or the end of a desk.
