Description

The Hinkley Ellison is a 565mm wide bathroom mirror light with a horizontal arrangement of two clear glass tubes, mounted on a matt black backplate and bound by a faceted heritage brass cuff at the centre. Each glass tube houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately), with the cuff acting as both structural join and decorative accent. The IP44 rating allows the fitting to be mounted in bathroom zones 2 and 3.

Designed for installation above or beside bathroom mirrors, the Ellison suits vanity walls, powder rooms and en-suites where task lighting is needed without ceiling-mounted downlights. The 122mm projection from the wall positions the bulbs 100-150mm forward of the mirror surface, reducing shadowing across the face. The horizontal orientation distributes light evenly across a 600-900mm wide mirror or basin area.

The heritage brass finish on the central cuff shows a warm, slightly aged patina that contrasts with the matt black backplate and chrome-plated E27 lamp holders visible through the clear glass. The faceted geometry of the brass cuff catches and reflects light from the bulbs, adding visual interest to an otherwise linear form. The glass tubes are open at both ends, allowing heat to dissipate and making bulb replacement straightforward without removing the fitting.

What bulbs does the Ellison take?

The fitting takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED filament bulbs at 6-8W and 2700K for flattering bathroom task lighting that mimics traditional incandescent light.

Can it be used in all bathroom zones?

The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the shower enclosure and more than 60cm from the bath or shower tray). It is not rated for zone 0 or 1, which require higher IP ratings due to direct water contact.

How is it fitted to the wall?

The black backplate mounts directly to a standard bathroom lighting junction box or choc-block connection behind the wall. The 122mm projection means the fitting sits clear of most mirror edges and allows space for the bulbs without touching the mirror surface.

Does the heritage brass tarnish over time?

Heritage brass is designed to show a warm, slightly aged patina as part of its finish. This is intentional and not a defect. In bathrooms with high humidity the brass may darken slightly over time, which is characteristic of unlacquered brass finishes.
