Description
This rounded stoneware vase stands 19cm tall and measures 16cm across, and its character comes from the cut-out openings that cover its domed top and wrap the upper part of the body. Each opening is an irregular, pebble-like shape, no two quite alike, and the cut edges reveal the stoneware itself, drawing a fine outline round every hole. Beneath the openings the body is smooth and solid, finished in cream flecked all over with tiny speckles, with a gentle sheen that catches the light.
Because the top is pierced rather than left as one wide neck, the openings give each stem its own place: thread a few dried grasses, seed heads or slender branches through separate holes and the arrangement stays loose and evenly spaced. At 19cm tall it suits a small display on a sideboard, a mantelpiece, a windowsill or a bedside table, and it sits comfortably on a bookshelf in the living room or the hallway, where a taller vase would crowd the space. Left empty, it still works as a sculptural piece, because the pattern of openings gives the eye plenty to follow.
The vase is made of 100% stoneware and weighs 0.946KG, a reassuring weight for a piece of this size. Stoneware is fired at high temperatures, which makes it a dense, hard-wearing ceramic, and the speckled cream finish covers the whole piece, from the solid lower body to the pierced top. The styling props shown are not included, so the stems are yours to choose. For the best effect, keep them few and fine so the openings stay on show, and set the vase against pale wood, linen or a row of books on an open shelf.

Frequently Asked
What material is this vase?
It is made of 100% stoneware with a speckled cream finish, and it weighs 0.946KG, so it feels solid and settled on a shelf.
How big is the vase?
It is 16cm across and 19cm tall, a compact size for a sideboard, windowsill, mantelpiece or bedside table, holding a small, loose arrangement of stems.
Does the vase have an open top?
The domed top is pierced with irregular openings rather than one wide neck, so each stem goes through its own hole and the arrangement stays spaced out.
What works best in this vase?
Dried grasses, seed heads and slender stems suit it well, because they thread through the openings easily and leave the pattern of holes on show.
Is anything included with the vase?
No. You receive the vase on its own; the dried stems and fabric are styling props, and the styling props shown are not included.
