Description
These are square cotton napkins, sold as a pack of four, each one 45cm long and 45cm wide. They are made from 100% cotton in white, with a fine stripe running across the woven cloth and a neatly stitched edging that frames every side. The stripe shows on both faces, so the napkins look just as tidy whichever way they fall when folded. At 45cm on each side, a square is large enough to tie into a loose knot, roll through a ring or fold into a neat rectangle beside a place card.
We would put them on the table when you are laying places for a celebration, a birthday or a weekend with friends: each one knotted, tied with a length of twine or tucked under a handwritten name card with a sprig of foliage. White cotton sits easily with woven placemats, warm wood and brass, so the pack suits a relaxed country look as well as a crisp, simple one. They earn their keep away from the table too: wrap a small gift in one for a host, drape one over a basket on a kitchen shelf, or keep one folded under a vase or a plant pot on a sideboard. The styling props shown are not included.
Care is straightforward. They go in the washing machine at 40 degrees, can be tumble dried on a low setting and take a medium iron, which is the setting to reach for when you want crisp folds and sharp knots. Cotton tends to soften with repeated washing, so the cloth relaxes into an easy drape over time. For the tidiest table, iron the four flat, fold each into a square and keep them stacked together in a kitchen drawer; when guests are due, a loose knot and a sprig of foliage at each place is all the dressing they need.

Frequently Asked
What are these napkins made of?
They are made from 100% cotton, a woven fabric, in white with a fine stripe across the cloth and a stitched edging around every side.
How big is each napkin?
Each napkin is 45cm long and 45cm wide, a square large enough to knot, roll through a ring or fold neatly beside a place card.
How many napkins come in the pack?
They are sold as a pack of four napkins, so one pack lays four places at the table for a small gathering.
Can I put them in the washing machine?
Yes. They can be machine washed at 40 degrees and tumble dried on a low setting, so they are easy to keep fresh between uses.
Can the napkins be ironed?
Yes. The maker's care advice is a medium iron, which is the setting to use when you want crisp folds and neat knots.
Is the stripe on both sides of the napkin?
Yes. The stripe shows on both faces of the cloth, so the napkins look tidy whichever way they fall when folded or knotted.
