Description

The Egil-1 is a 140mm square outdoor wall or ceiling light in graphite-finished cast aluminium, built around a single GX53 5.7W LED (included) providing 3000K warm white light. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, canopies, external eaves and building facades where the fitting is shielded from direct rainfall.

Designed for wall or ceiling mounting on external walls, doorways, walkways and stairwells, the Egil-1 mounts flush to the surface with a 50mm projection. The square format and compact 140mm footprint allows multiple fittings to be spaced evenly along a facade or corridor without dominating the architecture. The included GX53 LED is a disc-format lamp that sits behind the opal acrylic diffuser, casting an even wash of light across the mounting surface.

Cast aluminium construction provides the structural durability needed for year-round outdoor exposure, and the graphite powder-coat finish resists corrosion from moisture and UV degradation from sunlight. The square profile and clean edges suit contemporary and industrial exteriors, and the graphite tone blends with anthracite render, dark timber cladding and grey masonry without creating strong visual contrast.

Can the Egil-1 be used in uncovered outdoor locations?

The IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashing from any direction, but not direct rainfall or submersion. The fitting is best used under eaves, canopies, covered porches or building facades where it's shielded from sustained rain. For fully exposed locations, a higher IP rating (IP65 or IP66) would be more appropriate.

Is the LED bulb replaceable?

Yes. The fitting uses a GX53 disc-format LED bulb that can be replaced. The included 5.7W 3000K LED is rated for approximately 15,000-25,000 hours depending on usage. Replacement GX53 bulbs are available separately from Niori and other lighting suppliers.

Can it be mounted on both walls and ceilings?

Yes. The Egil-1 is designed for dual mounting — either vertically on a wall or horizontally on a ceiling. The opal diffuser distributes light evenly in both orientations. Wall mounting typically provides downward wash light, while ceiling mounting provides general area illumination below.

What colour is the light output?

The included GX53 LED is 3000K, which produces a warm white light similar to traditional halogen bulbs. This colour temperature suits residential and hospitality exteriors where a warmer tone is preferred over the cooler blue-white of 4000K-6000K LEDs.
