Description

A rectangular jute cushion cover, 60cm wide and 40cm tall. A solid band of rust runs along the bottom third, and above it the ground is the natural oatmeal of undyed jute carrying horizontal stripes printed in the same rust. The stripes grade as they rise: fine and close together just above the solid band, then wider and bolder towards the top edge. The weave is coarse, and the rust sits unevenly across it, deeper wherever the fibre has taken more colour.

At 60 x 40cm this is the rectangle in the range, so it takes a 60 x 40cm pad and sits across a sofa back rather than square in a corner. The banding runs along the long edges, so the pattern is horizontal when the cover is set with the solid band at the bottom. It suits a sofa, a bed or an occasional chair.

The fabric is jute, woven on a handloom and put through a softening treatment before printing, because jute starts out coarse. The stripes go on afterwards, block printed by hand. Eesha comes in ochre, sage green and rust, and each colour is made in this 60 x 40cm rectangle and a 50 x 50cm square.

Frequently Asked

What size cushion pad does this cover take?

A 60 x 40cm pad. The cover measures 60cm wide and 40cm tall.

Which way up does it go?

The solid rust band runs along one long edge. Set with that band at the bottom, the stripes run up from it.

Are the stripes printed or woven?

Printed. The jute is woven on a handloom first, and the stripes are block printed onto it by hand afterwards.

Does it come in other colours and sizes?

Yes. Ochre, sage green and rust, each in 60 x 40cm and 50 x 50cm.

How should it be washed?

Some fabrics are spot clean only. Lift any liquid with an absorbent tissue, blot the area with a sponge or a clean folded towel moistened in lukewarm water, and dry it with warm air from a hair dryer so no water mark is left. Take larger, more stubborn stains to a professional. The covers are tested for colourfastness.
