Description

A pair of tall mugs in terracotta stoneware, each 11cm high and 8.5cm across, holding 395ml. The sides are faceted into soft flat panels, so the rim runs slightly wavy rather than true, and the off-white glaze stops short of the base and leaves a broad band of bare terracotta round the foot. The handle is a large open loop, glazed on its outer edge with the clay showing along the inside.

395ml is a full mug: tea brewed in the mug, or a coffee with milk in it, with room still left at the top. At 11cm tall they are taller than they are wide, so they stand in a row on a shelf rather than sitting out on a saucer. They are foodsafe, dishwasher safe and microwave safe.

The mugs are stoneware, made with a terracotta clay and glazed over it in off-white. The glaze is thick enough to run and gather where the panels meet, so it reads paler on the flats and deeper in the angles. Two come in a set, and the same mug is made in a shorter size and in slate.
