Description
The Ecliptus is a 5-metre continuous LED strip running at 24V DC, delivering 40W of warm white 3000K illumination across 300 individual surface-mounted LEDs. The strip measures 10mm wide and comes on a flexible silicone backing that allows it to bend around corners and curves up to a 50mm radius. Dimmable when paired with a compatible 24V LED dimmer and driver (both sold separately), the strip can be set to full brightness for task lighting or reduced to ambient levels for accent use.
Designed for indoor installation with an IP20 rating, the Ecliptus suits under-cabinet lighting in kitchens, cove lighting in living rooms and bedrooms, shelf illumination in retail displays, and recessed channels in hallways and staircases. The 24V operating voltage requires a separate LED driver (not included) sized to match the 40W load, typically a 50W or 60W driver to allow headroom. The strip can be cut to length at marked intervals every 50mm, allowing precise fitting to the available run without wastage.
The 3000K colour temperature produces a warm white output comparable to a traditional halogen bulb, sitting between the yellower tone of 2700K filament lamps and the cooler neutrality of 4000K. The silicone backing provides moderate adhesion to clean, dry surfaces and can be reinforced with aluminium channel systems or additional mounting clips where the strip will be subject to heat or vibration. At 8W per metre, the strip draws significantly less power than equivalent halogen tape while producing comparable lumen output with minimal heat generation.
Each LED on the strip is protected by a silicone coating that resists dust ingress but is not waterproof — the IP20 rating means the strip must be kept away from direct water contact, steam and high humidity zones such as bathrooms and outdoor installations. For those environments, Ideal Lux produces IP65 and IP67 variants of the Ecliptus range. The 5-year warranty covers LED failure and driver compatibility issues when the strip is installed according to the manufacturer's wiring diagram.

Frequently Asked
What driver do I need for this strip?
The Ecliptus requires a 24V DC LED driver rated at 50W or above to handle the 40W load. The driver is sold separately. Choose a driver with 20-25% headroom over the strip's wattage to ensure stable performance and longevity.
Can the strip be cut to a shorter length?
Yes. The strip has cutting marks every 50mm along its length, allowing you to trim it to the exact run needed. Once cut, the strip cannot be rejoined without soldering or using strip connectors.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, when paired with a compatible 24V LED dimmer installed between the driver and the strip. Not all dimmers work with LED strips — check compatibility before purchasing a dimmer module.
Can it be used outdoors or in bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating means the strip is not protected against moisture or water ingress. For bathrooms, kitchens near sinks, or any outdoor application, use an IP65 or IP67 rated strip instead.
