Description

Smoked crystal and polished chrome give this lamp its weight and its glitter, with a black suede shade above to keep the light soft and pointed where you want it. The crystal reads a warm grey rather than clear, so the chrome catches the eye first and the facets pick up whatever light is already in the room. It stands 82cm tall on a 23cm base, and an inline switch on the flex means you can work it by hand rather than reaching under the shade. It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W.

We would set it on a hall console, where the height reads well against a mirror, or in a bedroom on a chest of drawers, tall enough to read by from a chair beside it. In a sitting room it sits happily on a side table next to a low sofa, with the shade near eye level so the lamp itself stays out of view. It suits rooms that already have some polished metal in them, and it asks for very little surface. Dimming is possible if you fit a suitable lamp and a separate dimmer.

The metalwork is polished chrome, the crystal is smoked and faceted, and the shade is black suede with a matt nap that soaks up glare. Keep the crystal looking its best with a dry lint-free cloth, and lift dust off the suede with a soft brush rather than anything damp, since suede marks when wet. It carries a one year warranty. A pair works well at either end of a long console, and it also sits comfortably beside plainer ceramic or glass lamps in the same room. Lamps are not included.
