Description
The Knightsbridge SN1510 is a dual 25mm pattress box moulded in white thermoset resin with integrated earth terminals. Designed specifically for surface-mounted 2-gang socket and switch installations, it provides two single-gang compartments side-by-side in a 173mm-wide housing, allowing a standard 2-gang faceplate to fit across both apertures.
Intended for locations where flush mounting is impractical — masonry walls without chasing, timber stud partitions, trunking runs, or retrofits where cable routing sits on the wall surface — the box raises the socket or switch 30mm from the wall. The integrated earth terminals provide grounding points for metal faceplates and metal-clad cable runs without needing a separate earth block. The box is part of the Knightsbridge Square Edge range but also compatible with other standard UK wiring accessories using 86mm centres.
The white thermoset resin construction is impact-resistant, non-conductive, and rated IP20 for indoor dry locations. The material is tested to ISO 22196:2011 for anti-microbial properties, making it suitable for healthcare, hospitality and food-preparation environments where surface hygiene matters. The 25mm depth refers to the internal cable compartment space, with the overall projection from the wall at 30mm when fitted.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between 25mm and 35mm pattress boxes?
The 25mm depth refers to the internal cable compartment space. A 25mm box suits standard socket and switch installations with minimal cable runs. A 35mm box provides more internal volume for connections with multiple cables or dimmer modules that require additional depth.
Is this compatible with screwless faceplates?
Yes. The box accepts both screw-fixed and screwless faceplates from the Knightsbridge Square Edge range, as well as other UK standard 2-gang accessories using 86mm vertical centres.
Where are the earth terminals located?
The earth terminals are moulded into the back of the box as brass terminal blocks. They provide grounding points for incoming cable earths and metal faceplates without needing a separate earth connector.
Can this be used outdoors?
No. The IP20 rating indicates this box is for indoor dry locations only. For outdoor surface mounting, look for IP-rated weatherproof enclosures.
