Description

This baby mobile is a soft little night sky in white. Fluffy sheep, a crescent moon, stars and puffs of cloud each hang on their own cord beneath a round hoop. The figures are polyester with a polyester filling, so they are light and gently padded rather than hard, and their deeply textured surface gives them a cuddly, rounded look. It is 75cm long overall and the hoop is 20cm across. That is compact enough for a small nursery while still giving the figures a generous drop. With sheep, moon and stars together, the whole piece tells a simple bedtime story.

It belongs in the nursery, hung over a cot, a changing table or a nursing chair, where a baby lying underneath has something gentle to watch. A mobile like this sways and turns slowly as the air in a room moves. Because the figures hang at different heights, the shapes keep shifting against one another. It sits just as happily in a child's bedroom or a quiet reading nook, and the sheep and stars theme suits a calm, neutral scheme. Wrapped up, it makes a thoughtful gift for a baby shower, a newborn or a christening.

The figures come already strung on their cords and fixed to the hoop. At the top the cords gather into a single cord threaded through a bead. At 0.08KG the whole mobile is very light, so it puts barely any weight on the hook that holds it. Its fluffy figures look best against a plain wall, where their soft outlines stand out clearly. For a gentle, layered nursery, hang it a little off centre over the cot and echo its white tones with cotton bedding and a knitted blanket.
