Description

These are four slim paraffin dinner candles, each 2.2cm across and 25cm tall, finished in dip dye bands that give a plain taper far more character. The candles are multicoloured, and no two in the pack carry their bands in the same order: two split into three neat blocks, while the other two meet in a soft curve, so the four look related rather than identical. At the foot of each candle the wax is fluted into fine vertical ridges, a small detail you only notice up close.

Their 25cm height suits a dining table, where they stand tall enough to clear a low vase of flowers or a tray of tealights without crowding the place settings. Grouped in mismatched candlesticks, the four make a relaxed centrepiece for a long table; split between rooms, a pair on a sideboard and a pair on a mantelpiece, they carry the same mixed palette through the house.
