Description
The Dimalai is a complete table lamp 26cm tall: a squat, round-bellied glass base under a fluted conical shade, both in the same smoke brown recycled glass. A brass collar caps the base and a short brass stem carries the shade above it. The base glass is uneven, with darker streaks pooling through where the colour has run thick, and the shade is closely ribbed from its top down to the rim. An inline rocker switch sits on the rust coloured braided flex.
At 26cm tall and 16.5cm across it takes very little of a bedside table, a shelf or the corner of a desk, and the switch on the flex falls to hand without reaching behind furniture. It takes one E27 bulb up to 60W. The base is glass as well as the shade, so it lights along with it and the lamp reads as one lit object rather than a bright top on a dark stem: a lower wattage suits a bedside for that reason. The flex runs 2.5m to a UK or EU plug, and the lamp is rated IP20, so it belongs in dry indoor rooms.
The glass is recycled. Waste glass is collected and washed, then crushed and melted before being mouth blown or moulded to shape, and a smoke brown antique finish is applied afterwards, so the depth of the colour varies from lamp to lamp. The Dimalai range also holds a clear version sold as a base on its own, without a shade. Bulbs are not included.

Frequently Asked
Does the shade come with it?
Yes. Base and shade are both glass and both included, so a bulb is all you need.
What bulb should I choose?
A lower wattage than the 60W maximum. The whole body glows, so a bedside lamp needs less than you'd think.
Does the base light up too?
It does. The glass carries light down through the whole shape, which is why both parts are made from it.
Will the colour vary?
Yes. The smoke finish is applied by hand after blowing, so the depth of brown differs between lamps.
How do I clean it?
Unplug it first and take the shade off, then wipe the glass with a soft dry microfibre cloth in a circular motion. Don't use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
