Description

A round metal tray 54.5cm across, raised at the edge into a shallow upturned rim. The rim carries the hammer as a run of overlapping shallow facets, and its outline waves very slightly rather than running true, which is what raising a circle by hand does to it. The floor inside is worked into fine concentric rings that tighten as they close on the centre. The whole tray is finished in antique brass.

At 54.5cm across this is a large tray and it covers most of a small coffee table. A coffee table, a console or the middle of a dining table are the places it is made for, holding candles, glassware or a few decorative objects. It is only 1cm deep, so what stands on it sits level with the surface around it rather than down in a well.

The tray is aluminium under an antique brass finish. Each one is shaped by hand and then embossed, so the ring pattern and the run of the hammer marks differ from tray to tray. The Dhanya round tray is made in two sizes, 40.5cm and 54.5cm across, and this is the larger.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

54.5cm across and 1cm deep.

Can I serve food on it?

It is suitable for use with dry food only.

What is the surface?

The rim is hammered and the floor is embossed with fine concentric rings. Both are done by hand, so no two trays carry quite the same pattern.

Is there a smaller one?

Yes. It is made in two sizes, 40.5cm and 54.5cm across, and this is the larger.

How do I look after it?

Hand wash only. Use a mild dish soap, rinse and dry it. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners away from it, as they will damage the finish.
