Description

The Coniston is a 60cm-diameter acorn-shaped crystal chandelier with 20 E14 bulb positions arranged across cascading tiers of clear crystal droplets, suspended from a French gold frame. The elongated acorn profile tapers from 600mm at its widest point down to a single crystal finial at the base, creating a total drop between 1420mm and 2880mm depending on how much chain is used during installation.

Designed for double-height entrance halls, stairwells with landings, and large dining rooms with ceiling heights above 3m, the Coniston provides both ambient light from the 20 bulbs and decorative sparkle from the faceted crystal. The adjustable drop means it can be set higher in a 4m hall or lower over a dining table in a 3.2m room. The French gold finish on the metal frame gives a warm antique tone that softens the brilliance of the clear crystal, working well in traditional and classical interiors.

Each tier of crystal is strung on a metal armature hidden behind the droplets, with the clear faceted pieces catching and refracting light from the E14 bulbs positioned within the structure. The chandelier weighs 48.3kg, so it requires ceiling fixings rated for a minimum 75kg load and a secure joist or reinforced ceiling rose. The minimum drop of 1420mm means the chandelier hangs at least 1.42m below the ceiling rose. For safe head clearance in a double-height entrance hall or stairwell, a ceiling height of 3m or above is recommended. Over a dining table, a 3.2m ceiling allows the chandelier to be set approximately 700-800mm above the table surface.

How is the 48.3kg weight supported?

The chandelier must be fixed to a ceiling joist or a reinforced ceiling rose rated for at least 75kg. Installation by a qualified electrician is strongly recommended, particularly for plasterboard ceilings where additional bracing may be required.
