Description

Combi is a table lamp in antique copper. An antique copper lampholder standing on a wide flat disc base, the holder a turned cylinder with a knurled band round its middle, a broad ring above it to take a shade, and a small switch lever on its side. The base is thin and sharp-edged and much wider than the holder, so the fitting stands like a small plinth. The copper is a deep aged brown with a warm sheen where it catches the light. There is no shade, so the lamp fitted into it is the whole of what is seen. It mounts on a wall plate or stands on its own base.

It is a lamp for a side table, a desk or a bedside, close enough to reach the switch from where you sit, and it lights the surface it stands on rather than the whole room. A pair either side of a bed or a sofa reads as deliberate where one alone reads as an afterthought, and two smaller lamps light a room more evenly than one large one. There is an inline switch on the flex, so it is reached at the fitting rather than by following the flex down.

The holder is E27 and takes up to 60W. It plugs into an ordinary socket, so it needs no electrician. It is class II, double insulated, so it needs no earth, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

Which bulb does it take?

An E27 lamp up to 60W. Bulbs are supplied separately so you can choose the brightness and colour you want.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, on a compatible dimmer, provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable one. The fitting has no dimmer of its own.

Does it need an electrician?

No. It comes on a flex with a moulded plug and goes into an ordinary socket.

Where is the switch?

There is inline switch on the flex.

Does it need an earth?

No. It is class II, double insulated, so it is wired live and neutral only.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
