Description
This miniature mantel clock is modelled on a classic coffee machine, scaled down to sit happily on a shelf or desk. The body is a glossy deep red, with silver details picked out across the front: a ribbed handle reaching out to one side, a coiled steam wand on the other, and a tiny cup waiting on the drip tray beneath the spout. Above them sits a rectangular white dial in a silver surround, with clear black numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 and slim markers between, so the time reads at a glance. It stands 7cm tall, 4.2cm wide and 4.2cm deep, small enough to tuck beside a monitor or a stack of books.
We like it anywhere coffee is part of the day: on a kitchen shelf beside the mugs, on a desk at work, or on a bedside table where a large clock would crowd the space. Its stepped base keeps it steady on a flat surface, and at only 7cm tall it fits on a narrow windowsill or a bookcase ledge with room to spare. It also sits well among other small curios on a mantelpiece, where the red catches the eye from across the room without taking over.
It runs on a quartz movement powered by one LR66 button cell battery, which is included, so it is ready to set and place as soon as it is unpacked. A silver plate covers the back. To keep the red and silver bright, dust it with a soft dry cloth now and then and keep it away from water. Wrapped up, it makes a cheerful little present for a kitchen, an office or a study, and beside a morning cup of coffee it looks entirely at home.
