Description

These are three stoneware mugs, each holding 400ml and measuring 9.5cm across and 10cm tall. That is a generous size: room for a large milky coffee, a proper builder's tea or a hot chocolate, rather than a dainty cup for an espresso. Each mug wears a different glaze, so the multicoloured three are clearly a family without being identical. On every one, a glossy upper glaze runs down over a more textured lower half, and the line where the two meet is soft and uneven. The body is rounded and slightly bellied, narrowing a little at the rim, with a wide loop handle.

They are mugs for daily use: the first coffee of the morning in the kitchen, a long tea at the desk, or a cocoa on the sofa. Because the glazes differ, everyone in the house can claim a mug of their own and know it at a glance.
