Description

The Climene is a slim LED wall light in white, a low rectangular panel that throws a wash of light both upwards and downwards across the wall. It is 25.5cm long and 8cm high, and it projects just 4.5cm from the wall, so it stays neat in a narrow hallway or beside a stair where a deeper fitting would feel bulky. The body is aluminium with a white plastic shade, and the light comes from two integrated LEDs of 5.4W each, so there is never a bulb to buy or change. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms.

Because it lights the wall above and below rather than shining straight into the room, it gives a soft, architectural glow that suits hallways, landings, living rooms and bedrooms. We like a pair either side of a bed or a dressing table, framing the space with a gentle band of light. Each of its two lights gives 640 lumens at 3000K, a warm white that sits comfortably with lamps and candlelight in the evening and keeps a room relaxed rather than clinical. The plain white finish melts into a white or pale painted wall, so the shape of the light becomes the feature.

There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, and it is not dimmable, so it belongs on an ordinary wall switch rather than a dimmer. It is a wired-in mains light, so it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Look closely and you will see rounded end caps finishing each side, which soften the clean lines of the white aluminium body. Aluminium does not rust, and packed the whole light weighs just 0.499KG, so it is easy to handle during fitting.
