Description
This is a hand brush made for the everyday sweep-up: a long, slim beech handle in black with a dense head of horsehair bristles set along part of its length. It measures 38cm long, 6cm wide and 3.5cm tall, so the bristles sit well clear of your hand and give you a long, even stroke across a surface rather than a short scrub. At 0.17KG it is light enough to pick up and put down without a second thought. Horsehair is soft yet springy, a classic choice for brushes meant to lift fine dust. Its materials are beech, horsehair and polyester.
We think of it as a kitchen brush first, kept on a hook by the worktop and ready to sweep the counter, a shelf or the windowsill in a few strokes. Its length helps when you need to reach the back of a deep shelf or the far side of a wide surface. It is just as useful away from the kitchen: on a desk where eraser rubbings and pencil shavings gather, on a craft or workshop bench, in a utility room or by the back door for brushing down a coat or a bag. It suits anyone who would rather reach for a proper brush than a cloth, and anyone who likes the tools they use every day to be worth leaving out on show.
The handle is beech, a hard, close-grained wood that takes everyday handling well. A loop at the end of the handle lets the brush hang straight down from a hook, peg or nail, so it stays to hand and the bristles are kept off the worktop between uses. Hang it on a rail of simple hooks next to a tea towel and it earns its place on the wall as much as in the cupboard; the styling props shown are not included.
