Description

A garden parasol, 2.6m across, in anthracite. The arm carries the canopy from the side, so there is no pole through the middle of the table. That is the whole reason to buy a cantilever rather than a centre pole, and it is why the base has to be heavier. At 246cm it stands taller than a standard interior door. Whether a garden table gets used in July comes down to shade. A canopy this size covers the seated area rather than the table top alone, which is what decides between eating outside and giving up by mid-afternoon.

A dark finish reads as a shape rather than a surface, so the outline does the work and the detail recedes. Against a pale wall that is graphic; against a dark one the piece almost disappears. The frame is aluminium, which does not rust. That is the material decision that matters on anything left outdoors: steel painted well will still find a scratch and start weeping rust from it, aluminium will not. The fade resistance is the whole point: an acrylic canopy looks the same at the end of its third season as its first.

A base is required and is sold separately, and on a free-arm parasol it has to be heavier than a centre pole would need. Aluminium frame. A cover is available for it.
