Description
The Cayce is a standing vanity mirror 36cm tall and 25cm wide, cast in solid aluminium. The frame is wide and flat faced, arched across the top and square at the two lower corners, and it sits directly on its own bottom edge. A triangular strut is hinged at the back and folds out to hold it at an angle. The casting leaves the surface pitted all over, so the antique brass reads darker in the hollows and brighter along the face.
It stands rather than hangs, on a dressing table, a chest of drawers or a bathroom shelf. The strut takes the mirror 14cm back from the front of the glass, so it needs a surface at least that deep, and at 1.74kg it holds its angle without leaning on anything behind it.
The frame is aluminium, cast solid rather than built up from sheet, and the glass is plain. Sand casting is what leaves the pitting: the metal takes the grain of the mould it sets in, and every mould gives a slightly different face. It does not hang on a wall.

Frequently Asked
How big is the mirror?
36cm tall, 25cm wide and 14cm deep with the strut out.
Does it stand or hang?
It stands. A triangular strut folds out from the back, and it is not made to hang on a wall.
What is the frame made from?
Solid aluminium, sand cast, in an antique brass finish.
Why is the surface pitted?
The frame is cast in a sand mould and takes its texture from it, so the pitting is different on every mirror.
How should it be looked after?
Go over it with a microfibre cloth, working in a circular motion. Harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners will damage both the frame and the glass.
